>>RATES Two of the more common requests I receive have to do with editing existing documentation and creating new copy. In an effort to give prospective partners an idea of my rate schedule, I have separated these services into Proofing/Editing and New Business Writing. Here is what the services entail, and the rates: Proofing/Editing This basically applies to copy that needs correcting, reworking and/or enhancing. An example would be product information that is technically correct, but lacking in polish and impact. My service would start with proofreading, where I would correct basic problems like typos, misused words, and errors in punctuation, grammar, and usage. I then reexamine the document for overall effectiveness at communication your message. I evaluate for clarity, conciseness, and overall impact, and I suggest changes as needed. The rate for this service is $30.00/hr. Depending on the format and length of the documentation you provide me to work with, I can also invoice you by page (at $7.00/page, where a page contains roughly 250 words), or by word ($.03/word). Terms of payment are 50% deposit to begin, balance due upon final submission. Minimum charge is $30.00. New Business Writing New Business Writing refers to original copy I create for you, based on goals and guidelines that we establish together. It includes writing projects like corporate reports and documentation, press releases, newsletters, website content, brochures, flyers, booklets, product specs, and catalogues. The rate for New Business Writing is $35.00/hr. Graphics Design Graphics Design includes the creation of logos, display advertisements, and other graphic elements. The rate for Graphics Design is $50.00/hr. Small ads and graphics typically require 30-60 minutes to design. Larger ads typically require 1-3 hours to design.
